{ Visit Charlotte } Discovery Place Charlotte – Fun with Science

The Discovery Place Charlotte, NC

The whole visit in NC we had beautiful weather except for one afternoon there was a threat of rain, so our visit to Discovery Place¬†Charlotte was perfect timing! I couldn’t think of a better way to escape the rain (or the cold or a really hot day) than to spend the afternoon at Discovery Place.

Discovery Place is one of the top hands-on science centers in the country complete with a mini aquarium and a rainforest. They also have an IMAX theater in the building, too. Little Man loved the aquarium! They even think about the little ones, placing footstools so they can get a better view.

He also had a blast looking through the glass at all of the animals in the rain forest.

Truth is we could have spent all day there between the IMAX, the interactive games and activities and the little kids area. We flew, made loud sounds, watched magnets choreographed to music, learned about wildlife and biodiversity. There were a lot of things that we didn’t know… Hubs and I need to brush up before little man starts school or else he is going to know more than us:)

We learned all about how scientists are using cameras to study animals like penguins and whales in the National Geographic Critter Cam exhibit. We took part in science experiments and made lots of noise! It was heaven for a little kiddo who is super curious and extra busy! His favorite part was the Kid Science area where he got to explore using air to hold up ping pong balls, racing cars down a hill with daddy and playing with water.

Discovery Place was awesome! There was so many activities to keep the kids busy and learning. This is a great summer destination if you are looking for something to do with the kiddos and sneak in a lesson or two. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for kids 2-13.. the IMAX is additional. Here is the really cool thing. They participate in the ASTC Passport Program, so if you have a membership to a science center like DaVinci Center here in Allentown, or the Franklin Institute you can gain admission to the museum with your reciprocal membership.
