Is It A Boy? Is it a Girl? Here’s a fun way to try and predict gender
| March 15, 2013 | Posted by admin under ACE, Mom Stuff, Parenting |
hen I found out I was pregnant with little man, I couldn’t wait until my 20 week ultrasound to find out if I was having a boy or girl. I tried every wives tale in the book and even some gender tests, too. Here is another way that you can predict or maybe if you are trying, it’s a way to try and control the outcome from my friends at Chinese Gender Chart: Are you trying to conceive and have a preference for a boy or a girl? Have you been trying to influence the gender of your baby through changes to your diet, timing in relation to the woman’s ovulation, or even switching positions? Are you newly pregnant and can’t wait until that 20 week ultrasound??? If that sounds like you, you may be interested to know the Chinese Gender Chart predicts your baby’s sex based on the age of the mother and the month in which she conceived. So, for instance, a 20 year old woman who conceived between the 4th and 9th lunar month is more likely to have a boy, whereas a 28 year old woman who conceives in the 2nd lunar month is more likely… more
My days of Changing Diapers are over…

I think I have expressed here on more than one occasion that I may not survive potty training little man. It feels like I have been trying for years. Little Man is strong willed, independent, and determined. These are great qualities in an adult and I’m sure he will be successful in his future, but a toddler who is learning to potty train? Not so much. Especially when he uses those powers for evil. He was determined not to go in the potty and I have spent almost a year convincing him that going on the potty is the thing to do. I was starting to panic as he was in the largest size diaper that was made… Where do you go from there – Depends? My mind would race. What if he didn’t go on the potty by fall? He couldn’t go to preschool? Noooo!!!!!!…. it’s my light at the end of the tunnel (OK, that sounds a bit dramatic) but as any momma who stays at home or works from home know those couple hours a week they are in preschool makes the difference between the leaning tower of laundry and a clean house:) We watched the DVDs, we did the “Potty Dance” a… more

Did you all see the State Farm commercial? They commissioned director Spike Lee to create the tribute to the New York Fire Department. There are 150 kids serenading some NYFD Fire Fighters to the Jay-Z and Alicia Keys hit Empire State of Mind. You can find the 9/11 tribute song on ITunes where the proceeds go to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. They not only help FDNY but families of firefighters both paid and volunteer all over the country Here’s the video: [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnlPX2_b4GA] more
Some Great Apps For Busy Moms (and Dads too:)

Img Source: How Stuff Works It took me a really long time to jump on the smart phone boat and when I did it was amusing to say the least. It took me a few days to figure out how to answer the phone and about a week to realize all those muted calls were from my face touching the screen… Needless to say, I won’t be replacing Steve Jobs at Apple:) Once I finally got the hang of it, I was hooked. How did I ever survive without one? One little phone replaced an MP3 player, Ebook reader, Palm Pilot, Computer (for random internet searches), GPS and so much more. So in order to bring you the best of the best apps, I consulted with some of the women from Philly Social Media Moms to see what their favorite apps were and why. Kelly from http://www.raudenbushfamily.blogspot.com/ has an Iphone. Her two favorite apps are: Pic2Shop (available both Android and Iphone) - “You can scan items when you are shopping to compare prices. Love it!” Mapquest (available both Android and Iphone)- “A great app, so much better than the apple map app. Even speaks to you — goodbye big ole GPS!” Tomika from http://www.mymommysneighborhood.com/ has an Android… more
Crafty Tuesdays

There have been a couple cute Do It Yourself Crafts posts that popped up today I thought I would share with you…. Click HERE to see the ladies from DIY Dish show you how to reporpuse an old knit sweater into mittens. Great craft to do with the kiddos plus reusing things that you no longer use is very green:) Pretty Much EVERYTHING that is on Tip Junkie That site rocks!!! There are two things that I MUST tell you about me and crafts. 1. I am actually very crafty, HOWEVER, I rarely have time to do them. I admire the moms who can craft and homeschool their kids, and make a perfectly homecooked meal and have a spotless house. I am not that Bree Vandecamp kinda mom. I have a sneaking suspicion most of you aren’t either. 2. I have bought someone elses homemade crafts and did not correct people when they said how creative I was. I was creative in picking out a homemade gift. Does that count? I bought them at local craft sales. I’m not proud. I do however enjoy seeing how to do them and keeping them in a mental file for the day I actually have time… more
Why you always trust your mommy instincts…..

They are like super powers. When you know something just isn’t right, you know it. This is always what my more experienced mom friends say. Since little man was born, I have been a little clueless. I second guess myself and pretty much have no idea what to do. I’ll admit I didn’t think that I had that spidey sense, but I know now that I do. Little man had a fever for two days, so I took him to the doctor. Unfortunately I didn’t get my usual nurse practitioner because it was an emergency appointment. The doctor on was one that I was not crazy about when he was little. After I explained that he was still sick after being on ammoxicilin for a week and my aunt who lives with us has pneumonia. She proceded to tell us she thought he had a stomach virus. Even though he had only threw up one time due to his high fever. She said to give him fluids and wait it out. I questioned her a few times but she insisted… I knew it wasn’t the stomach bug. I had an uneasy feeling in my stomach and for good reason. The… more
My worst day as a mom….

When I had little man I knew there would be good and bad days. So far we’ve had a couple glitches but nothing major until today. After three visits to the dr and a correct diagnosis (pneumonia) we landed in the hospital. What a horrible place for an otherwise boysterous kiddo to end up. As I layed on top of him holding him down so they could stick an IV in him for the third time and watched him hyperventalate for 20 minutes while I did the worst rendition of the itsy bitsy spider with a very perky clerk, I realized this was the worst day ever in my mommy life. But then later after the fluids and antibiotics perked him up he looked over and smiled and said momma:) I guess it isn’t the worst day anymore now that he is going to be ok…. more
