Who is this crazy girl?

Hi, I’m Jen. I’m a mom, freelance writer, virtual assistant,  domestic goddess in training, and somewhat desperate housewife splitting my time between the Lehigh Valley and Raleigh. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 10 years and we have one ridiculously busy and bright 6 year old “little man”. I love sweet tea, baby laughs, San Francisco, and Hostess Snowballs.

When I’m not writing, chasing after little man, you can find me at Surf City with my toes in the water and *ss in the sand. My dream is to become a full time surfer/beach bum, but I need to learn how to swim first. Oh, and I’m terrified of sharks.

Where did Naptime Warrior Come From?

When you have a small child and they are super busy, the only time you can get something accomplished is when they sleep -which is how I became the Naptime Warrior. As a former type-A career girl, I couldn’t just nap myself, so I began writing, taking pictures and also running my VA business on the side. Now I work full time from home and couldn’t be happier!

I believe that the greatest job I have had is being a mom, but I also believe you don’t have to give up what you love to do outside of your little one. You just have to figure out how to do it in 2 hours or less:) So whether your joy comes from working, crafting, or cooking – carve a little time each day to feed your soul with things that make YOU happy! You will be a lot happier and a better parent if you do:)

A Naptime Warrior is anyone who wants accomplish something – anything while their raising their kids. It may be to learn how to make a tasty french dish or complete a DIY house project. Some people may want to use that time to keep their skills current or freelance. Whatever floats your boat y’all.

Here’s My Blogging Story (the abbreviated version)

They say a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step. My journey started with my original blog, Lehigh Valley Momma. I thought I would blog into obscurity, but fate held other cards for me. After being contacted by a local new anchor to contribute to a segment about couponing and saving money, suddenly I was being contacted by people in the valley to chat, review venues and help spread the word about charity events. I contributed to many other blogs and even taught a few couponing classes for church groups and mom groups around the Valley. I traveled across the country to blog conferences and began freelance writing for other sites.

When my husband moved us to beautiful Raleigh, NC, in 2012. I still kept Lehigh Valley Momma up and running as people still visit me there and there are tons of resources, but  I also blog at Naptime Warrior. I also contribute to other sites like Smart Asset and am a ghost blogger for other sites. If you would like me to contribute to your site, contact me jen@jencarl.com

Being a blogger has led to a natural transition as a virtual assistant. I assist small online business entreprenuers and bloggers with anything from promoting contests,  their accounting, graphic design to managing their social media. You can learn more about what I do (and what I can do for your blog or business) {HERE}. I also coach small business owners on social media. In February I am launching a Pinterest for Business Course, so stay tuned!

Blogging and Virtual Assisting from home allows me to be the room mom, the field trip mom and lets me be active in taking care of our 89 year old grandmother who suffers from dementia.

I’m not gonna lie – I also love working in my yoga pants.

If you would like me to speak to your group or want one on one mentoring, please contact me. I am also press friendly and have contributed to many news sources in the past. Please contact me via email jen (at) jencarl (dot) com if you want to feature Jen or the Naptime Warrior blog. Please make sure that you put MEDIA REQUEST in the subject line.
