Seen in the Valley: Date night with Hubs…

Since we didn’t have little man this weekend, we decided to have a date night (on the cheap). I told him that I just wanted a really good slice of pizza. We we were already at Price Rite on South Mountain in Allentown checking out the groceries there and stopped at the new (to me) Thrift Shop accross from the shopping center. He knew just the spot and swore I would love where he was taking me and we headed to Fountain Hill.

Although I saw my beloved Mateys in the distance, we turned right and ended up at Lorenzo’s. It reminded me a lot of the pizzeria that we went on Sundays when I was growing up. The staff was friendly and just walking in there, it smelt delicious! I ended up getting a calzone instead of pizza because I can’t even tell you the last time I devoured one. When it came, I laughed because it would have been big enough to feed 3 people and I ordered the personal size. Hubs ordered Linguini with clam sauce and I had to try a little (quality control and all – lol) and it was hands down one of the best linguini with clam sauce dishes I have EVER had. The best part is our food was piping hot, like just plated and ran right out to our table – hot. I love it. So often when you go out to eat, the food is lukewarm at best and you know it sat in the back. This was fresh as fresh could be. Another bonus: the prices were extremely reasonable for the crazy amount of food we got. I took home 3/4 of the calzone and the total with tip was about $27 for the twi if us. We love supporting family owned and local restaurants when we can get a dinner out to fit in our budget and this was definately the place to go – you can’t get any more family than the pictures of their kiddos decorating the walls behind the counter.

An Organized Life: Organize Your Articles and More with Clipix

After my hard drive crashed in the fall and I lost everything on my computer. I realized the importance of having a virtual copy of everything. I even lost all of my favorites where I had spent countless hours organizing recipes, articles, blog ideas and everything else under the sun. I realized then and there that I needed to have a way to organize and keep information that would be able to be accessed from anywhere and wouldn’t be erased if there was a problem with my computer.

I was recently introduced to clipix. Clipix has the ability to keep all of your articles, ideas, recipes, etc. in an organized virtual place that you can share with your friends and family. You can create as many custom clipboards as you like and “clip” articles that you can see on the internet. The thing that I really like about clipix is that you can set items to private so they are just for you or you can share with friends only or with everyone.

So what can you do with clipix?

  • You can plan a vacation
  • Plan a Birthday Party
  • Save your Favorites
  • Gift Ideas
  • Gift Registry
  • Make a “virtual” cookbook
  • Research (articles)

I installed a “Clip” button on my favorites bar so that when I see an article, I clip it and add it to one of my clipboards. You can see the clipboard I started for photoshop tutorials below. I also like that I can keep it organized and not in a huge list (which is what my favorites bar is like now:(

So what do you plan to clip???

Another Great Money Saving Site

This post brought to you by dealnews. All opinions are 100% mine.

I’m always looking for sites that make finding deals easy. I especially like when the deals are all in one place because I don’t need to go to multiple sites to find different deals. I was introduced to dealnews and I really like the concept. They have a newsletter where you can have the deals delivered. They have many deals from clothing deals, travel deals, electronics deals, and even have local deals all in one site. Their website actually scours the web looking for the best tech deals as well as other deals. Today I logged on and there were 93 new deals, so you always have current deals and not expired codes as you sometimes get with other deal sites and blogs.

I’ve been looking for an external hard drive because my portable just crashed (and took all of my data from the past 5 years with it). They had great deals on hard drives, USB drives and other computer hardware. I was impressed with how I just clicked on computer, clicked on hard drive and everything I needed was there.

Above is my screen shot from my searching. The site is organized very well. While I was there, I also searched for Local Deals in New York City because I am starting to plan my trip to Blog Her… When I know that I am going somewhere, I usually scour the daily deal sites and stock up on restaurant, spa and hotel certificates for that area. It looks like dealnews does the legwork for me. I found some really great restaurant deals.

So what deals did you find on dealnews? Anything in particular that you are looking for?
